ADRs generated per sprint

Architecture decisions have a characteristic failure mode: they take weeks, not because the thinking is hard but because the comparison is unstructured. Options get whiteboarded, trade-offs get argued, and the decision, and the reasoning behind it, often never gets written down in a form anyone can revisit. Stride's Design module compresses that loop. Given a problem, it generates multiple solution options with scored trade-offs, so the architect starts from a structured comparison rather than a blank canvas. The discussion shifts from "what are the options?" to "which of these scored options fits our constraints?", a much faster conversation. As the Principal Solutions Architect described it, Design generated three solution options with scored trade-offs in minutes, replacing weeks of whiteboarding sessions. The 85% reduction in time-to-decision is the headline, but the more durable metric is 4 ADRs generated per sprint. An architecture decision record is only useful if it actually gets written; the reason ADRs are chronically missing is that writing them is friction at exactly the moment the team wants to move on. By generating the ADR as a by-product of the decision (capturing the options considered, the trade-offs scored, and the choice made), Stride turns documentation from a chore into a default. Four per sprint is the signal that the team is capturing decisions at the rate they actually make them, not retroactively reconstructing them before an audit. The compounding benefit is institutional memory. Six months later, when someone asks "why did we choose this?", the answer exists, with its alternatives and rationale intact, instead of living in the heads of whoever happened to be in the room. The engagement is anonymised to role and sector by agreement. The pattern (structure the options, score the trade-offs, capture the decision automatically) travels to any team that makes architecture decisions faster than it documents them.
